RESEARCH: Western Europe's ATM market continues to grow
Retail Banking Research releases its annual ATM review of Western Europe.
June 18, 2007
ATM growth isn't slowing in Western Europe, and according to London-based Retail Banking Research Ltd., 2006 revealed some interesting trends. Among them was a rise in off-premises ATM places, which for the first time outnumbered in-branch ATMs. More 14,000 new ATMs were placed in Western Europe, which for RBR's purposes includes 18 countries. The region's total number of ATMs is now 342,495.
RBR also found that more deployers are moving their ATMs to Windows XP, and almost half of all ATMs in the countries surveyed rely on outsourced cash-replenishment services.
