TIO adds Tenn. utility to ATM billpay service

September 20, 2007

BURNABY, British Columbia - TIO Networks Corp., provider of automated bill payment and financial services, has announced a new billpay deal with Tennessee's Jackson Energy Authority. The arrangement will allow the utility's cash-preferred customers to pay their bills through a self-serve service available on retail ATMs that participate in the TIO network.

According to a news release, the service is expected to launch in winter 2007. Available in English or Spanish, Jackson Energy customers can pay bills by inserting cash directly into the terminal's bill acceptor. Once the cash is accepted, TIO uses an Internet link to ensure real time payment-posting to the customer's account.

The touchscreen ATMs are expected to be available in more than 10 retail locations in the Jackson area, TIO says. TIO will apply a $2 fee for the service.

"Tens of thousands of utility customers across the United States use the TIO network to pay their bills monthly, and we are confident that Jackson Energy Authority's customers will find the network to be a quick and convenient payment option," said Chris Ericksen, TIO's senior vice president of services.
