Symstream and Multi-Tech Systems partner to provide fully managed wireless solution

February 4, 2008

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Symstream Technology Group Ltd., an Australian-based wireless technology company and Multi-Tech Systems Inc., a data communications and telecommunications technology manufacturer based in Minneapolis, announced an alliance to deliver a wireless modem solution that enables wireless transaction services utilizing the GSM/3g networks.

Multi-Tech wireless modems deployed with Symstream will provide a global wireless technology solution that offers flexibility and connectivity to ATM terminals, kiosks and POS terminals, according to a release. The combined solution is expected to allow transactions to be sent without a fixed-line communications network and to ensure faster, more secure and more reliable services.

By integrating the internationally patented Symstream wireless technology with Multi-Tech's wireless modems, businesses will be able to send and receive transaction data across the GSM/3g network via a data transmission method that is comparable in reliability to a leased data line at a fraction of the cost, with a similar level of security and without the obvious limitations and restrictions of a fixed wire service, according to the release.

These Multi-Tech modems support the recently released Symstream Souran Platform, an advanced carrier-grade management platform solution that provides a complete end-to-end solution that allows for a domestic or globally deployed network of ATM's, kiosks and POS devices to be managed from a central management point.

"This strategic alliance between Multi-Tech and Symstream allows both companies to focus on their respective strengths while delivering a superior and seamless solution to our mutual customers," said Mike Kydd, vice president of sales for Multi-Tech Systems. "This will provide our customers with the strongest, most flexible and secure managed wireless connectivity solution available today."

The initial Multi-Tech product line of Symstream-enabled products includes embedded SocketModem communications devices and stand-alone MultiModem wireless modems with various connectivity options including USB, Ethernet and serial interfaces with products targeted for release during the second quarter of 2008.
