Polish FI installs 200 NCR ATMs

June 28, 2007

DAYTON, Ohio -NCR Corp. has announced the successful rollout of 220 ATMs to PKO Bank Polski in Poland. PKO BP now has more than 1,630 NCR self-service units.

According to a news release, the bank also selected NCR's Aptra Advance NDC software, as well as installation, maintenance and remote-monitoring services.

PKO BP installed various NCR ATM models, including the Personas M Series 86 multifunction unit that offers cash dispense and traditional envelope deposit.

"PKO Bank Polski decided for a flexible solution, which can be upgraded easily to intelligent deposit," said Krzysztof Gajór, general manager of NCR in Poland. "This will allow bank customers to deposit cash online without using envelopes, so the deposited amount can be credited immediately on the customer's account."

The systems are connected to the NCR Management Center, which monitors the self-service network for PKO BP.  Additionally, placement of advertising at the ATMs is expected to be handled remotely in the future.

The ATMs offer remote distribution of code keys as well as NCR's Enhanced Card Drive, also known as "jitter."  The stop-start motion during the insertion of magnetic-stripe cards distorts mag-stripe details so that they cannot be copied by skimming devices. The ATMs purchased by PKO BP also can use built-in cameras that allow transactions to be monitored.
