January 17, 2007
The deal was facilitated by Kenya-based Technology Associates, which Wincor contracted to roll out the ATMs for the bank. Equity Bank Kenya ordered 70 ProCash 1500xe ATMs and 30 ProCash 2150xe ATMs units.
With the order, the bank doubled its ATM network to 200 units, which are all ProCash machines, the company said. Equity Bank Kenya now reportedly has the largest ATM network in Eastern and Central Africa. The ATMs' offerings include cash dispensing, cash and check deposits, balance inquiries, mini-statement printing, and checkbook services.
With 36 branches and 54 mobile-bank units, Equity Bank holds 30 percent of all bank accounts in Kenya.
