India's Canara Bank launches mobile, biometrics ATM

The (India) Economic Times:As part of its initiative to reach more of India's rural areas, Canara Bank has launched a voice-enabled (biometrics), smart-card-equipped mobile ATM. The ATM was designed to provide banking services to rural customers; plans to launch nine more mobile ATMs are in the works. The mobile ATM is part of a mobile van, which includes a customer lobby where bank personnel will be available to provide information about bank products. And, the ATM's biometrics technology includes the ability to capture a finger print, either at the branch or by registering through phone or handset.
