Indian bank places its first biometric ATM

The (India) Economic Times: Punjab National Bank in New Delhi has installed its first biometric ATM at a village in Gautam Budh Nagar. The ATM is expected to help illiterate and semi-literate customers conduct banking transactions. Customers can access accounts with a fingerprint and withdraw money, make balance inquiries and get mini-statements through voice guidance. PNB says that by 2010 it plans to cover 30,000 villages, 15 million households and 75 million people.
