MESA, Ariz. - Better ATM Services, which has patented technology that enables the dispensing of prepaid cards at ATMs, and Diebold Inc. have signed a deal to provide card-dispensing.
According to a news release, Diebold is the first ATM manufacturer certified to offer Better ATM's offering. The technology enables existing ATMs to dispense prepaid cards through the ATM's cash tray. "Better ATM Services' technology breathes new life into legacy ATMs and ushers in a new era of ATM-dispensing technology," said Chuck Ducey, Diebold's senior vice president for global development and services.
The technology runs on all of Diebold's ix, iSeries, and Opteva ATMs. "We are honored to have an industry leader like Diebold on our team at this early stage of the marriage of two industries - the ATM and prepaid industries," said Tom Honey, Better ATM's chief development and marketing officer. "Better ATM Services' technology will enable independent ATM sales organizations, retail outlets, prepaid-platform providers, prepaid-distribution firms, transit organizations, event and entertainment management industries, amusement parks, and other venues, as well as financial institutions, to profitably expand their services to consumers.
Better ATM Services' officials are in active discussions with other ATM manufacturers, but the company has limited participation during the charter commitment period, which ends in June 2008.
