BROOKINGS, S.D. — The ATM Industry Association on Feb. 20-22 is hosting its annual Conference East in New Orleans. The theme of the ninth U.S. conference is "Rising Again," highlighting the strength New Orleans has shown as it's worked to rebuild and noting the parallel to today's ever-changing and challenging ATM business.
According to a news release, this year's east event is designed to inspire ATM businesses and operations to confront today's issues and threats and come out on the other side renewed and ready to embrace emerging opportunities.
This year's keynote will be delivered by Vietnam veteran Lt. Col. Oliver North, who will address global security and current security concerns facing the United States.
Industry speakers are slated to present trends about renewal of the ATM for the 21st century as well as information about new sources of revenue for U.S. ATM operators. Industry updates about ATMs in the Americas, including the United States, Canada and Brazil, also will be shared.
Since PCI security is a major ATM issue, the conference will begin with an ISO 101 workshop that focuses on PCI for the ISO. Issues such as how PCI standards relate to older keypads on ATMs, policies and procedures, ATM operations, terminal/state registration, and surcharge tracking will be covered.
ATMIA chief executive Mike Lee will present a futures research study about the future of cash in the United States and beyond, looking at the drivers and growth inhibitors of future cash demand. Is a cashless society as far away as ever? What are the conditions which will determine future growth of cash in circulation?
Portions of the conference's income will be donated to the rebuilding of New Orleans.
