Jonathan Judge named First Data CEO

September 30, 2010

First Data Corp. has named Jonathan J. Judge CEO. Judge, who began his new job today for Atlanta-based First Data, succeeds Joe Forehand, First Data’s chairman, who also was serving as interim CEO. Forehand will remain the company’s chairman.

Prior to joining First Data, Judge was president and CEO of Paychex Inc., a Rochester, N.Y.-based provider of payroll, human resources and benefits outsourcing for small- and medium-sized businesses.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to join a world-class organization with both an experienced leadership team and global employees committed to meeting customers’ needs and ensuring the company is an even stronger leader in electronic commerce and payment technology solutions,” Judge said.

Although First Data is known in the United States as a card processor, outside the United States the company is a large operator of ATM networks. First Data owns CashAxcess, an ATM network in South Africa. The company also manages ATM networks in Australia, Austria, the Baltic States, Germany, India, the Slovak Republic, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

The company recently decided not to build an ATM network in Turkey.
