Wireless ATMs on the rise in Asia, says NCR

Inquirer.net: Asian banks are looking into making use of wireless ATMs that can be deployed and remotely operated in underserved areas, according to NCR Corp.Based on NCR's estimates, around 85 ATMs are now in place for every 1 million Filipinos. By contrast, in Singapore, an island state with about 4 million inhabitants, more than 500 ATMs per million Singaporeans are in place. To provide more ATMs, many banks are turning to units that make use of GSM cellular networks instead of fixed connections.
