PADERBORN, Germany - Wincor Nixdorf International is preparing for Wincor World 2007. This year's theme, "Your Compass to Innovation," is expected to be an invitation to encourage dialogue about trend-setting information-technology solutions that optimize processes in bank branches and retail stores.
In a 10,000-square-meter exhibit hall with more than 70 of its partners, Wincor will showcase its products, software, consultation offerings and services.
According to a news release, the annual conference, which runs from Jan. 30 until Feb. 1, also includes information from experts in the banking and retail segments.
The symposium, "Focus: The Customer is King," will be presented Jan. 30 in conjunction with Börsen-Zeitung, one of Germany's financial newspapers. The second symposium, "Checkout Revolution," is slated for Feb. 1 and will be hosted by Wincor and the International Retail Networks. During "Checkout Revolution," experts will explore retail trends and new technologies.
Retail Horizons - Vision from store to enterprise
Wincor will bring together the key issues of automation, self-service and consumer technology through its "Retail Horizons - From Store to Enterprise" concept. This shopping mall will feature modular solutions for different store types, from new checkout variants and retail cash-management solutions to central-store management. Mobile solutions for stores and consumers, reverse-vending systems, visual-merchandising solutions and kiosk systems will be on display.
Radio frequency identification technology also is expected to be a highlight this year. RFID can be used in canteens and other hospitality settings. For instance, "intelligent plates" that rely on RFID help to streamline the payment process at food counters.
Retail exhibits also will include a comprehensive presentation of the retail-store-software portfolio, which focuses on solutions for centralized management.
Banking - optimizing branch operations
Wincor will present holistic solutions for optimizing processes at retail banks and other industries. Cash management forms a core part of process optimization, and Wincor World will focus on solutions that ensure all payment types - including notes, checks and coins - are managed effectively.
ProCash Analyzer software, which allows replenishment intervals and amounts for all cash points to be configured, is another key component. ProCash Analyzer allows financial institutions to reduce cash-handling and logistics costs, and save interest expenses, without affecting the availability of cash systems.
Security solutions for retail bank branches also will be highlighted.
Services - new solutions, platforms and strategies
Wincor says its services division is on course for worldwide growth, and service offerings will be showcased during the conference. The eServices Platform electronically manages service processes and levels on a global scale.
"Beyond developing future-oriented tools and technology, Wincor Nixdorf is committed to the continuous expansion and internationalization of its service portfolio," the company said in a news release. "This commitment demonstrates the company's interest in taking on an even more important role in the IT service market for the retail and banking industries. Branch-specific, flexible self-service and ICT outsourcing solutions and global managed services will power this strategy."
