VERO signs with West Texas Credit Union for self-service check-cashing solution

March 2, 2008

PORTLAND, Ore. — VERO, a financial-technology provider, has signed a deal with West Texas Credit Union to pilot VERO's end-to-end automated check-cashing solution.

According to a news release, VERO's solution is designed to streamline processes, enhance member experience and manage fraud risk.

"We identified an opportunity with VERO to decrease long lines, especially on pay-days, where wait times can be as long as 20 minutes," said Rufino Carbajal Jr. of WTCU. "The pilot will allow us to get member feedback and see the streamlined process first hand."

A VERO enrollment station and advanced-function ATM have been installed at the credit union's Americas El Paso branch.

"With the West Texas Credit Union installation, we launched our second-generation check-cashing technology that improves both transaction times, fraud-decision capabilities and ultimately member satisfaction," said Dave Grano, VERO's president and chief executive. "In the credit-union market, West Texas Credit Union is seen as the pioneer in finding and utilizing new technology that benefits members."

VERO will be demonstrating its automated check-cashing technology at CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C., on March 2-4.
