Reducing the Cost of Advanced-function ATMs
Advanced ATM functions improve loyalty, but also drive costs.
September 19, 2007
Transactions per ATM are flat or declining, and the advent of advanced self-service functions has offered ATM deployers an opportunity to improve their profit margins and offset their declining per-ATM transaction volumes. Most deployers now realize that relying solely on interchange and surcharge fees is not enough.
But implementing advanced functionality is expensive, and many so-called "C" level financial executives in the United States have challenged the industry's push upgrade or replace existing ATMs with Windows-based, regulatory-compliant hardware, especially when one considers the profitability hit ATMs have taken in recent years. Yet, at the same time, ATM deployers understand that they need to offer more robust functions and services.
Having a strong ATM strategy is essential.
