NCR acquires English bank-teller-software provider

August 20, 2008

DAYTON, Ohio — NCR Corp. has acquired NCI Ltd., an London-based provider of teller connectivity software used by financial institutions.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to a news release, NCI's applications are widely used by FIs in North America and Europe seeking to innovate through branch-automation solutions that improve teller productivity and cut wait times for customers. NCR expects to further develop the NCI Teller Cash Connectivity application and leverage NCI's experience in teller connectivity for branch and teller-cash-recycling solutions.

"This acquisition will make it easier for NCR and its banking customers around the world to introduce and integrate branch-automation technologies that can transform branch productivity and the customer experience," said Bill Nuti, chairman and chief executive of NCR.  "Bringing NCI's expertise to NCR demonstrates our commitment to the teller-automation market and underlines our intention to enhance NCR's total solution offer as we grow our assisted- and self-service business."

NCI's suite of applications provides a single software platform that enables connection of teller-automation devices without modification of the branch application, or full integration with a wide range of branch platforms for online use of devices.
