Law enforcement in Independence, Missouri, are warning residents of mugging crimes. During these incidents, an individual waits for someone to withdraw cash at an ATM and then follows them to steal the cash, according to a report by KCTV5..

In order to prevent being a victim of this crime, police recommend not leaving cash or valuables visible inside a vehicle and to put money away before leaving the ATM. If one suspects they are being followed, drive to a well-lit public place and call law enforcement.
