In what might seem like an unlikely partnership, Canada's Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority and Mothers Against Drunk Driving have announced that they will team up on a MADD fundraising project.
According to a report by the CBC, fees from ATMs installed at two SLGA-controlled stores will go to MADD. The ATM fee of 99 cents (US 97 cents) is the lowest transaction fee in the country, MADD said.
"I understand some people see a bit of an irony," Steve Raine of MADD told the CBC. "But Mothers Against Drunk Driving is not against alcohol consumption, what they're [advocating is that] as soon as alcohol is consumed that nobody drives."
If the pilot is a success, it will be assessed for further expansion, the CBD story said.
