LA Metro has introduced its official LA Metro app and payment platform. With the system, customers can use tap, a digital wallet or a wearable device to pay for transit fees, according to a report by Metro Magazine.

Customers can pay for up to four additional passengers via the app. The app itself provides information on bus and rail services, along with real-time updates on service alerts. It also includes multilingual support and a screen reader. Customers can still use cash by loading it onto TAP cards.

"Metro customers shouldn't have to navigate multiple apps just to ride transit," Metro CEO Stephanie Wiggins told the news outlet. "This new app, combined with credit and debit payments at the fare gates and on board buses, is about creating a seamless, intuitive experience, whether you're a daily rider or visiting Los Angeles for the first time. It also positions us for the future, not only as we prepare to welcome the world for major events, including the FIFA World Cup 2026, but also as we continue to serve the millions of people who depend on us every day."
