Cash App is introducing a NFC-enabled payment accessory designed to let customers pay without using a phone or physical card. The first edition is called the Cash App Wand.

The wand is available for $25 through the app for eligible Cash App Card holders, while supplies last. The device includes a key chain and can be clipped to bags or clothing. It links to a user's Cash App Card and enables tap-to-pay transactions wherever Visa contactless payments are accepted, according to a press release.

"While digital wallets are invisible and physical cards are often buried in wallets, Cash App Tags are just the opposite," Thomas Templeton, hardware lead at Block, said in the release. "We see a unique opportunity here to make payments visible and social for the first time."

Users must have an active Cash App Card to purchase and activate the device through the app. Features include real-time transaction alerts, 24/7 fraud monitoring and the ability to lock or deactivate the Tag instantly.

The Wand is the first in a planned series of limited-run designs, with broader availability expected later this summer, the company said.
