KeyBank announced Friday that more than 4,600 clients graduated from its Key Secured Credit Card program during the first half of 2026, transitioning to traditional unsecured credit cards, according to a press release.

The program, launched in 2019, aims to help clients establish and improve their credit histories while building savings. According to KeyBank, 68% of the first-half 2026 graduates completed the program within 12 months, and 85% graduated within 24 months.

Of those graduates, 74% entered the program without a FICO score and finished with an average score of 724. The remaining 26% enrolled with low scores, raising them by an average of 86 points upon graduation.

Upon completing the program, cardholders have their pledged security deposits released from their Key Active Saver accounts and receive upgraded unsecured cards. KeyBank reported that more than 48,000 clients have graduated from the program since its inception.

"Providing education around the importance of establishing good credit, while also supplying the tools to achieve it, is what sets Key apart from other banks," Maria Ponce, head of Consumer Payments at KeyBank, said in the release.

The bank noted recent enhancements to the initiative, including financial education tools, automated credit line increases, and invitations to apply for traditional credit products like the KeyBank Latitude and Key Cashback cards.
