Ingenico i9400 approved for EMV in Italy
August 12, 2007
NEUILLY-SUR-SEINE, France - Ingenico Italia has received EMV approval from Cogeban-Progetto Microcircuito (formerly ABI - Progetto Microcircuito) for its i9400, which combines the i9430 reader with the i9450 PIN pad, for the acceptance of payments on unattended devices, including vending machines and kiosks.
According to a news release, the i9400 is a secure device introduced to the Italian market at the end of 2006. The first installations at Shop24 - a fully automatic shop set up by Conad, a leading retailer in Italy - have been met with success, the company says.
"We are happy to be the first in Italy to offer secure-payment solutions for unattended equipment beside(s) standard attended EFT-POS," said Vincenzo Romeo, manager of Ingenico Italia's e-business solutions division. "Cogeban-Progetto Microcircuito's approval of i9400 comes after the international approvals from Visa PED and EMVCo, as a demonstration of the product's quality and security."
