GRG Banking announced that it has been ranked China's number-one ATM provider for the fourth year in a row. The ranking was released in a study by China's Financial News, the country's authoritative publication on financial markets.
The study, called Chinese ATM Market Overview 2011, reports on current market share and future trends. The latest report places GRG's sales volume at 17,500 and attributes more than 23.33 percent of market share to the company. The company's closest competitor was Hitachi, with sales volume of 14,000 and a market share of 18.67 percent.
The overall number of ATMs in China now stands at 369,000 units, a 23.33 percent increase from 2010 to 2011. According to sales volume numbers, the top five ATM suppliers (in order) are GRG, Hitachi, NCR, YH, and Diebold. Competition remains intense in the market, with the top five companies comprising 70 percent of total sales volume.
The top three providers have remained the same since 2008, however market share for NCR and Diebold has declined recently due to the companies' lack of cash recycling core technology, the Financial News report said. The report noted that cash recycling ATMs made up half of new machines introduced into the market in 2011, with a total of 37,000 purchased and deployed by Chinese banks.
