EMV Migration Forum gains new member in CreditCall

Payment technology company CreditCall is joining the EMV Migration Forum, a group formed by the Smart Card Alliance to support the payment industry's migration to EMV chip cards in the United States.

CreditCall is an industry expert in EMV with experience in EMV migration in Asia, Canada, Russia, Europe and the United Kingdom, the company said. More than one million of its EMV Kernel software solutions for chip-and-PIN and chip-and-signature terminals have been deployed around the world. Its EMV Kernels are used in applications for both contact and contactless payments and are included in card readers, POS, ATMs, gas pumps, kiosks, ticketing terminals, smartphones and tablets. Its technology also is present in unattended payment systems and mobile payments.

"The response to the EMV Migration Forum's attempt to initiate a cross-industry collaboration on this key challenge has been very positive," stated Randy Vanderhoof, executive director, at Smart Card Alliance and acting director of the new EMV Migration Forum organization. "Although the EMV Migration Forum is focused on the U.S. challenge ahead, it will take a truly global effort to succeed. We are delighted that CreditCall has joined the Forum, bringing with it more than a decade of experience implementing EMV technology around the world."

The U.S. is the last G20 nation to migrate its banking and payments systems to EMV chip-and-PIN and chip-and-signature debit and credit cards. EMV is a more secure technology than magnetic stripe and is expected to save tens of billions of dollars a year in card fraud.
