Diebold aims to help FIs cut check-imaging costs
March 7, 2007
NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Dove Consulting estimates check volumes will decrease by 10 percent between 2000 and 2010, because of increased card usage, automated clearing house payments, check conversion and check truncation. As a result of the Federal Reserve's decision to move away from paper-check processing, financial institutions are experiencing increased per-item operating costs associated with check processing.
According to a news release, Diebold Inc. is addressing the increased per-item costs with its ImageWayd distributed-capture solution, which reportedly enables FIs to implement cost-effective imaging models that minimize infrastructure investments.
ImageWay ATM, merchant and branch-capture solutions allow FIs to integrate image processing into their existing environments; FIs also may use Diebold for a full outsourced solution. Complementary solutions under ImageWay include payment processing, document imaging and archiving, and compliance-monitoring services.
Diebold in 2006 acquired Eras, a Miami-based image-processing-technology firm. The Diebold Eras solution provides full-service Check 21 technology with implementations of image-based item processing and archiving. Included In This Story
