Carphone Warehouse to intro mobile prepay card

LONDON — Monitise PLC and Metavante have announced a partnership with Carphone Warehouse to launch a prepaid card, managed directly from the mobile phone, that can be used to shop in millions of outlets worldwide.
The deal is the result of a partnership with Metavante Technologies Ltd. in Europe and Monitise PLC, the company behind the MONILINK mobile-banking and payments network.
According to a news release, the service expects to include full mobile management, similar to that used by customers of many of the United Kingdom's major banks, to manage their money on the move. Using a secure application stored on the mobile handset, a customer will be able to "top-up" a card directly from a bank account, while also keeping a close eye on recent transactions.
