Capital One intros 'open' card for debit, credit
June 27, 2007
SmartMoney.com:Capital One Financial is rolling out an innovative debit card that could change how financial institutions and consumers approach debit cards, industry analysts say. Unlike the debit cards, the new Capital One Debit MasterCard is "decoupled," meaning it can be linked to any bank account and used for purchases and ATM withdrawals, just like the debit card consumers get from their FIs when they open checking accounts. The card is expected to be widely available in 2008. "This type of card gives consumers the choice of using a debit card vs. a credit card," said Pam Girardo, a Capital One spokeswoman.
