BPC Banking Technologies, a provider of Open System e-payment solutions for the global financial industry, and Alfa-Bank, Russia's largest private bank, have launched an NFC-based contactless payment service for Russian telecom operator Beeline. This new service uses MasterCard PayPass Mobile to let customers pay for purchases with their mobile phone.
The new solution — currently in pilot testing — is powered by SmartVista, which underpins all of Alpha-Bank payment processing operations. Bank customers will be able to use the technology for fast, PIN- and signature-free payment of purchases under 1,000 rubles ($35). Purchases over that amount require verification.
"With this new product, working together with our partners BPC Banking Technologies, MasterCard and Beeline, we have enabled our customers to make payments quickly, easily and securely using the contactless solution based on MasterCard PayPass," said Vladimir Urbansky, head of e-business at Alfa-Bank. "As a result of SmartVista's comprehensive functionality and exceptional flexibility we have been improving our customers' banking experience by broadening the products and service offered."
"Our long-term partnership with Alfa-Bank continues to focus on the development and creation of convenient, innovative and secure payments products and services", said Vasily Grigoriev, CEO of BPC Banking Technologies.
