ATMs in Ghana dispense new, old currency
July 18, 2007
The Ghanaian Chronicle:The Ghanaian government is urging banking institutions in the country to display both new and old currency denominations on ATMs until the end of the year. Both denominations will remain in circulation until December 2007. The country's minister of finance also has asked banks to increase daily ATM withdrawal minimums, saying "insufficient amounts of the new Ghana Cedi were released to banks by Bank of Ghana, creating shortages in the early days of the new currency."
