ATMs cut banking workload in India in half

MYiris.com:The workloads of more than 65,000 tellers in the Indian banking industry have been cut by 50 percent over the last five years, thanks to the growing number of ATM installations in bank branches and at off-premises locations. According to the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India, India's bank branches in public and private sectors now total more than 50,000, 19,547 of which are located in rural areas while 12,238 are located in semi-urban areas. The country's number of ATMs now stands at approximately 17,000 units.
