Arca marks 20 years of cash automation technology development

Arca, a provider of cash automation technology, celebrated its 20th anniversary in October. The Mebane, North Carolina-based company, founded by CEO Mort O'Sullivan, employs approximately 500 people in the U.S., Italy, France and the U.K., according to a press release.

In 1998, Arca began providing cash and coin handling devices to be used in equipment manufactured by OEM companies. Today, the company offers its own line of cash automation technologies and services developed at its R&D center in Italy.

"We've enjoyed remarkable growth," O'Sullivan said in the release. "We've been fortunate to hire people who are not only incredibly talented, but who also had excellent vision that guided us in the early days. We've built upon that and stayed focused on developing products and services that deliver real value to our customers."

Arca customers — ranging from community credit unions to the world's largest banks, and including museums, zoos and casinos — handle large quantities of cash that must be collected and managed every day. Arca automation products and services streamline the cash management cycle and processes, saving time and reducing risk, the release said.

"We will continue researching and developing flexible solutions for our customers to help them address the changes and challenges within their industries," O'Sullivan said. "That focus is why we've been successful over the past 20 years."
