Wincor World: A preview of hardware highlights

A comprehensive CINEO portfolio headlines, but there's much more to see and hear about besides.

September 19, 2012

Wincor World 2012 will feature an expansive new venue in Rheda-Wiedenbrück with more space for both speaker presentations and product exhibitions. And this year's increase in square footage should prove opportune, as Wincor's full range of CINEO products and applications will be on display at the company's October trade fair.

Hardware, software and services

"We have approximately in total 10,000 square meters here for different types of exhibitions and we have big, big showcases," said Uwe Krause, VP of banking for Wincor Nixdorf International GmbH. "We are showcasing all our products in hardware, in software and in services, so that each customer can touch and feel … They can discuss this with experts in hardware and software and service in front of the system, in front of the software solutions and can discuss our pro and cons; they can see the processes; they can discuss with our consultants — everything will be there."

"Everything" includes the now fully fledged CINEO cash recycler portfolio. When it launched approximately a year-and-a-half ago, CINEO provided "only a fragmented offering" for ATMs, cash recycling systems and automated teller safes, Krause said. Since then, the range has been rounded out to meet a full spectrum of cash recycling needs.

"We are showcasing the new functionality and we are showing how easy it is to upgrade a cash dispenser to a recycling device … so that we can show to the customer how we are protecting his investment," said Krause.

Visitors at Wincor World will see firsthand CINEO modules that accommodate ATMs ranging from smaller machines with simple cash-dispensing functionality all the way up to multi-functional, through-the-wall, freestanding island and drive-up systems.

They'll also be able to see and learn about incorporated security features, such as Wincor's ink dye technology, said Krause. And importantly, they will have the opportunity to discuss with consultants how CINEO might work in their particular business setting.

Krause said the expanded line gives a customer the flexibility to try out cash recycling on a smaller scale before committing to the technology system-wide. "If he is not [sure] if recycling is the right approach or not, then he can start with the ATM. And he can easily upgrade this by exchanging only one module."

Putting customers in touch with customers

Wincor will also demonstrate how other vendors are beginning to incorporate CINEO cash recycling modules into their own hardware solutions, embracing the Wincor concept of a universal cash recycling standard. Swedish cash-handling technology provider, Banqit, will show its Q-CashRouter, which employs CINEO cassettes in high-capacity environments. Banqit CEO Leif Lundblad will also detail the company's experience with CINEO in a keynote presentation.

Customer presentations are a particular bonus to Wincor World attendees, Krause said. "Customers like Wells Fargo or CBA from Australia and [others] are telling their business cases — why they are doing cash recycling or not; why they are doing check handling; why they are doing multi-vendor software; why they have multi-channel architecture and so on. And so that means that customer can come in touch with customer. This is a most important thing."

Without question, CINEO will be the headliner at Wincor World, but Wincor will have much more in the way of new hardware, software and services on exhibit, Krause said. One new product line of note is the ProCash 288 cash dispenser, which the company developed specifically for deployment in emerging markets and ISO installations where multi-functional or cash recycling ATMs are not required — yet.

Krause said U.S. deployers are beginning to seriously analyze and discuss self-service recycling as a complement to the hundreds of teller recycling installations that banks already have up and running. "I am absolutely sure the business case is there," he said. "And I am absolutely sure if the first big bank one of the top ten [adopts it], then most of the others will follow."
