Both the ATM Industry Association and NYCE Corporation believe that the upcoming 'ATMs in the Americas' event in Miami will have crossover appeal for both financial institutions and ISOs.

If theATM Industry Association (ATMIA)and theNYCE Corporationhave their way, the upcoming "ATMs in the Americas" trade event may be the crossover event of the year.
The show, scheduled for March 4-7 at Miami's Hyatt Regency at Miami Convention Center, marks the first time ATMIA has presented an event in conjunction with another entity.
Mike Lee, the ATMIA's international director, called NYCE "an ideal co-sponsor" because of "the breadth of industry knowledge that NYCE has accumulated over the past 17 years" as a both an electronic payments network and an EFT processor.
The co-sponsorship could help ATMIA, which has historically had stronger ties to independent ATM deployers, reach out to financial institutions.

The conference agenda will include topics targeted to financial institutions -- such as "The Changing Role of the Bank Branch and Impacts on the ATM Channel" and "Bank Sponsorship of ISOs: Challenges, Opportunities and Recommendations" -- as well as those with crossover appeal to both financial institutions and ISOs, including an all-day March 4 workshop devoted to ATM security.
"With the broad agenda planned for this year's event, financial institutions will find the sessions pertinent, making this an all-around excellent opportunity for NYCE to add supplemental value to its relationships with all constituents," said Jim Judd, a NYCE senior vice president.
Because of NYCE's sponsorship, all 2,200 NYCE participants, the majority of whom are financial institutions, will receive a registration discount on conference fees.
Dennis Lynch, president and chief executive of NYCE Corporation, will present the keynote address, "Future Trends in Electronic Payments," on March 5.
For NYCE, the event may help boost its profile among ISOs. In recent years NYCE has courted independents, primarily by increasing its interchange rates at off-premise ATMs.
On March 6, NYCE is presenting a half-day break-out session "ATM Deployment: Challenges in the 21st Century," which is specifically geared toward ISOs.
Scheduled topics are: "How to Turn the Triple DES Technical Specs into Reality;" a panel discussion on "Sponsorship from a Network Perspective" with representatives from NYCE, Star Systems, a sponsor bank and an ISO; and "ATMs: Self-Service for the Unbanked," which will include information of interest to ISOs that may want to offer check cashing or other new services at the ATM.
"We tried to come up with topics that we thought were top of the mind for the ISO community," said Karlie Ilaria, NYCE's marketing programs manager, noting that the special session is free to all those attending the conference although advance registration is required.
