Wincor Nixdorf has entered a joint venture with Nokas, a Scandinavian provider of cash-handling services.
The new company was formed in June and named "Cash Retail Optimization Wincor Nixdorf Nokas," or Crown, according to a press release from Wincor. The venture will be headquartered in Delft, Netherlands, and owned equally by Wincor and Nokas.
Crown was formed to extend retail cash management services, recycling, and deposit solutions to retail customers in the Benelux, optimizing their cash-handling process to reduce cost, safety and fraud, the release said.
Crown also will offer combined ATM services for the retail environment, and promises to deliver end-to-end cash-handling services with a significantly lower total cost of ownership.
Under the crown brand, Wincor Nixdorf will deliver IT solutions and services for the retail industry, while Nokas will supply cash-management solutions, the release said.
"Our objective is to become a trusted managed services partner in the retail segment with a significant market share in the Benelux countries within the next three to five years," said Crown Executive Director Pieter van den Burg. "Our goal with the new company ... is to leverage synergy effects, boost our competitiveness and deliver services in order to cut the costs of the cash process for our customers."
