Wincor Nixdorf wins cashEDI certification

PADERBORN, Germany — Wincor Nixdorf is one of Deutsche Bundesbank's first certified partners in the CashEDI, Cash Electronic Data Interchange, project.

According to a news release, the system allows Bundesbank to offer its partners electronic support for their cash deposit and collection processes, thereby contributing to their optimization.

Wincor Nixdorf can now assume responsibility for cash replenishment and pick-up service at cash points as features of its services portfolio for banking and retail customers. The company will now rely on CashEDI. This means that information on cash collection from the Bundesbank and returns to the Bundesbank will be exchanged electronically in real time, providing enhanced transparency and security throughout the cash cycle.

Electronic communication with the central bank takes place over the CashEDI interface, which is now integrated in the order-processing function for Wincor Nixdorf's cash-replenishment and pick-up service. This enables orders for cash replenishment and deposit pick up at cash points to be routed automatically to a cash-in-transit company and, via the CashEDI interface, to Bundesbank.

Bundesbank branches assign a barcode and timestamp to each cash-in or cash-out transaction, and provide their partners with information about the current status of their cash. In the case of deposits, the bank issues an electronic receipt for each transaction. Additionally, cash counting results will be communicated via electronic channels. To cover its cash needs, Wincor Nixdorf sends consolidated cash orders for all its cash points to the Bundesbank. For each case, CiT operators receive individual details about the cashpoint and the issuing Bundesbank branch.

Wincor Nixdorf is notified when the Bundesbank branch has prepared the cash for collection. Cash payout is confirmed electronically, enabling Wincor Nixdorf to identify delays or cash discrepancies immediately.

CashEDI system closes the final gap in an end-to-end solution that reaches from the terminal to banknote acceptance and payout.
