Wincor Nixdorf integrating smartphone into cross-channel solutions

October 2, 2012

Market research firm Gartner expects that transactions amounting to $600 billion will be handled worldwide using mobile devices in 2016. Consequently, Wincor Nixdorf is presenting new smartphone applications in the self-service delivery channel.

The company's PC/E Mobile Cash application not only assists a bank customer to find the closest ATM via smartphone, but it also lets them use the device to set up transfers or cash withdrawals in advance  — even choosing note denominations — thereby reducing wait time at the ATM.

Additionally, bank customers can decide how they want to authenticate themselves at the ATM — either with their bank card and PIN or without a bank card, using two independent codes. The first code is selected by the user; the second is generated by the mobile cash server for each individual transaction.

Wincor's PC/E Mobile Cash will allow other business transactions, too, such as payment of a bill by cash or dispensing cash to a third party. The company expects to add QR code-based and NFC technologies as soon as international standards for NFC on ATMs have been established.

Banks can integrate the PC/E Mobile Cash solution into their existing self-service network easily to provide customers with a new service quickly and reliably. The app is available for both Android and iOS operating systems and can be downloaded from Google Apps and iTunes, respectively.

Wincor Nixdorf will showcase its PC/E Mobile Cash solution at Wincor World, October 16–18, at the A2 Forum in Rheda-Wiedenbrück. There, visitors will be able to try out all of the functions offered by the solution on their own smartphone.
