Wincor Nixdorf reports that it has received permission from the German Bundesbank — in accordance with the European Central Bank framework — to use three of the company's automated teller safe models with recycling function as customer-operated cash recycling machines.
The CINEO C6030, -40 and -50 may now be used not only for cash withdrawals by bank customers, but also for banknote deposits. This allows a significant expansion of the range of functions for bank customers and opens the opportunity to develop new branch formats, Wincor said in a news release.
Studies have shown that the smallest branches receive the top ratings in customer satisfaction studies, due to their decentralized structure. Using the ATS as a dispense-deposit unit reduces staffing needs at these small branches, making them a feasible option for banks, Wincor said.
The ATS is turned to face customers allowing them to use the touchscreen to start their transaction. Data is forwarded for final processing by the service employee who is able to monitor several ATS units without having to intervene in the deposit process.
The result is time savings for both the FI and the customer. The FI also reaps the benefits of maintaining lower cash balances and reducing cash-in-transit costs.
