Western Union reports 12% revenue increase

October 29, 2006

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -Western Union reported a 12 percent revenue increase during the third quarter of the year, up from $1 million in 3Q 2005 to $1.1 million.

The company's net income increased 7 percent, up from $242 million to $258 million.

Christina Gold, Western Union's president and chief executive, said the company's third-quarter results were in line with expectations.

"During the quarter we saw strong, consistent growth in our international markets, which represent 60 percent of total Western Union revenue," she said. "This strong international performance offset softness in our domestic and Mexico businesses."
