Wachovia, SunTrust adopt mobile banking

(Columbus, Ga.) Ledger-Enquirer: Customers of Wachovia and SunTrust banks are now able to view account information, pay bills, check balances and transfer funds using their cell phones. The mobile-banking platform is supported by AT&T, which is working with Firethorn Holdings LLC and its partner CheckFree Corp. to offer the service. The mobile banking application can be downloaded on more than 30 of AT&T's handsets, the company says. Pre-loaded handsets will be available in coming weeks. According to Celent LLC, approximately 46 million households bank online, and 35 percent of online-banking households (17 million) are expected to use mobile banking by 2010.
