Visa card spending topped $115 million during Olympic Winter Games

According to Visa Inc., spending by international visitors on Visa cards at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and in British Columbia exceeded U.S. $115 million during the 17 days of the games.
Total international Visa cardholder spending in British Columbia between Feb. 12 and Feb. 28 totaled U.S. $115.3 million, up 93 percent from the same 17-day period in 2009 — showing that the Games had a significant impact on spending in the province.
The total number of transactions on internationally issued Visa cards in British Columbia was 1.1 million — up 85 percent from last year.
