VeriFone to acquire self-service payment systems

SAN JOSE, Calif. - VeriFone Holdings Inc. has agreed to acquire Trintech Group PLC's payment-systems business. The deal that is expected to close in August.
According to a news release, the $12.1 million transaction will include all outstanding shares of Trintech's newly formed subsidiary. The deal includes payment systems that will support and extend VeriFone's existing offerings for merchants and financial institutions. VeriFone also will take over Trintech's product distribution and existing customer-support services.
