TRM, Pi Systems partner for Triple DES upgrade

PORTLAND, Ore. - TRM Corp. has partnered with Grand Prairie, Texas-based Pi Systems International for Triple DES upgrade kits to be used on TRM's fleet of NCR ATMs.

Pi Systems is the third provider of Triple DES solutions to obtain class "C" certification from Visa. According to a news release, Pi also is the only company whose products have been reviewed and accepted by MasterCard.

"When I think about working with Pi Systems, I truly value their ability to be innovative and fast on their feet when developing new products," said Gary M. Cosmer, TRM's senior vice president and chief technology officer. "When we came to Pi Systems, they did not have a product offering for us. We were able to sit with them and talk about our needs. Pi Systems turned that discussion into a prototype very quickly, and then into a product."

Cosmer said Pi's willingness to focus not only the regulatory requirements of Triple DES but added value for the merchant made Pi attractive.

"What we have been able to do, working with Pi Systems, is offer this kit and explain how this gives their ATM new life," Cosmer said. "It gives them new features and functions."
