Triton, Nautilus Hyosung plan to open R&D center in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Miss. — Triton Systems of Delaware Inc., which last month announced plans to be purchasedbySeoul, Korea-based Nautilus Hyosung, has announced plans to establish a research and development center in Long Beach. The company says it also expects to expand its global services center in Bartlett, Tenn., a suburb of Memphis.
"Triton's expansion is clearly great news for our area, and their plans to establish a research and development center in Long Beach increase the value and importance of this project," said Larry Barnett, executive director of the Harrison County, Miss., Development Commission.
According to a news release, the R and D center will focus on developing new ATM software and hardware. Triton's service center in Bartlett, together with Nautilus Hyosung America Inc.'s Dallas office, will provide Triton's nationwide service infrastructure, and will handle parts and repair for both Triton and Nautilus Hyosung products.
"Bartlett is delighted that Nautilus Hyosung has chosen Triton's Bartlett location as its service center," said John Threadgill, president and CEO of the Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce. "We are looking forward to welcoming Nautilus Hyosung as our first Korean investor in the community and working with them to ensure a successful operation."
The Triton service center houses Triton's training and technical support divisions. Triton's administrative facility and manufacturing plant are located in Long Beach.
"The creation of the R and D center in Long Beach and the expansion of the Memphis service center will allow us to further expand as a global company and better position ourselves to compete with the top three ATM manufacturers," said P.K. Ryou, chief executive of Nautilus Hyosung. "We feel that this will benefit our customers, our employees, our company, and the local economy with the creation of new jobs."
Nautilus Hyosung officials recently metwith Triton's management team and senior staff to develop strategies and initiatives that will benefit customers, employees and the combined businesses. Topics included strategies to continue the expansion into the financial industry and new global markets, and ways to improve and expand the Triton brand globally.
