Travelex re-ups ATM agreement with Cardtronics

London-based Travelex has awarded Cardtronics a long-term contract extension as exclusive manager of all U.S.-based Travelex ATMs. Cardtronics operates and manages more than 430 Travelex-owned ATMs in 34 states and Puerto Rico.

Travelex has operated in the United States since 1989, a Cardtronics news release said. The company's U.S. ATM portfolio includes 15 of the nation's international airports and, since 2011, hundreds of malls, shopping centers and outlets in the U.S.

At all locations, Cardtronics is responsible for fleet operations that include processing, cash management and maintenance of Travelex ATMs.

"Cardtronics has proven itself to be a valuable partner in helping Travelex develop high-profile ATM placement opportunities," said Jon Dario, president of Travelex Currency Services."With its established ATM operating history, plus the lower costs that an ATM operator of their size and scale can achieve, Cardtronics has served Travelex's U.S. ATM fleet well, perhaps most notably in deploying hundreds of new ATMs for us at shopping centers across the nation last year."

Rick Updyke, president of the North American business group at Cardtronics said that Travelex had played an important role in the growth of the company's managed services agreements.

"Over the last couple years, Cardtronics has significantly expanded the number of ATMs that we operate under managed services agreements, with a sizeable piece of that growth fueled by Travelex expanding its U.S. ATM footprint," Updyke said.
