TNS ATM portfolio expands, now more than double that of Canada's largest bank
April 16, 2008
TORONTO — TNS Smart Network Inc., Canada's largest ATM processor, has exceeded 11,000 third-party ATMs installed on its network.
TNS credits the growth to strength in the Canadian ATM industry along with confidence among independent sales organizations and merchants in TNS Smart Network's service and support.
TNS' installed ATM base represents a volume equivalent to more than 70 percent of all the ATMs deployed by Canada's five largest banks.
"It never ceases to amaze me … the continued growth of our network," said Mischa Weisz, president and chief executive of TNS Smart Network. "Compared to the banks, our installed base of ATMs is more than twice the size of the largest bank's ATM base."
Weisz said Canadian banks only increased their installed ATM bases by 2.1 percent between October 2006 and October 2007. TNS, on the other hand, increased its ATM base by 7.5 percent in less than 6 months from October 2007 to April 2008.
"The momentum that has driven us to where we are today is what we strive to maintain by offering the best customer service, the most innovative products and services and giving the cardholders what they want — access to their money, anytime, anywhere. The end result is that, in 2007, TNS Smart Network Inc. processed over 50 million ATM transactions."
