TMD Security Note Staining Kit Plus steps up defense against ATM explosions, traditional physical attacks

TMD Security has released Note Staining Kit Plus, a new solution that enhances the TMD Note Staining Kit used to defend ATMs against explosive attacks.

With Note Staining Kit Plus, TMD adds optional security features that also rupture the ink canisters in the case of traditional physical attacks with tools such as grinders and thermal lances, a press release said.

Ink-staining serves as a criminal deterrent, neutralizing notes inside the ATM in the case of a physical attack.

However the problem with standard ink-staining solutions is that the explosion occurs so suddenly that the ink system is destroyed before it can activate.

Shockwave technology in the TMD Security Note Staining Kit fractures the ink canisters instantly upon explosive impact, "spoiling the prize" for the criminal. The system does not rely on ATM sensors, which minimizes the risk of false alarms.

Note Staining Kit Plus adds defense against traditional attacks, providing a complete solution to physical attacks of all kinds.

"We have approached the problem of ATM explosions and physical attacks differently to other ink-stain technology providers," TMD founder Cees Heuker of Hoek said in the release. "We not only wanted a game-changing solution that successfully worked in all attack scenarios, but we also wanted to keep operational costs as low as possible for the ATM deployer, with virtually no maintenance, minimal risk of false alerts and no impact on ATM availability and cardholder convenience."

TMD Security monitoring software is combined with Note Staining Kit Plus, as well as Gas Defense Kit and Card Protection Kit, to ensure that the ATM is always protected and that service calls are productive, saving costs and reducing ATM downtime, the release said.

An Oct. 19 webinar presented by TMD Security and hosted by ATM Marketplace will discuss the growing threat of ATM explosive attacks and describe how Note Staining Kit shockwave technology helps to counter them.
