System brings ATMs to remote retailers

TMCnet: Retailers and banks in remote areas of India will soon be linked wirelessly through a new point-of-sale system that uses cell sites to transmit data. The Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. service can be used to provide wireless ATMs in isolated locations. It also gives establishments in rural areas the ability to accept credit-card payments.
