The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has announced that its ATM network is the first in Sri Lanka to achieve full EMV compliance.
In a press release, the bank said that it is also the first FI in Sri Lanka to activate its entire EMV chip card base for EMV transactions through the LankaPay ATM network, allowing cardholders to perform secure transactions using other bank ATMs connected through the network.
LankaPay is owned by Lanka Clear, the national check clearing house and payment infrastructure provider in Sri Lanka.
"Commercial Bank is focused on technological innovations that deliver meaningful benefits to customers," Managing Director Jegan Durairatnam said in the release. "These latest developments are noteworthy because they address a primary concern on transaction security."
The Commercial Bank ATM network comprises 756 terminals and is the largest private bank-owned fleet. The bank has operations in Bangladesh, Myanmar, the Maldives and Italy.
