Sovereign Bancorp signs branding deal with Cardtronics

PHILADELPHIA - Sovereign Bank, a subsidiary of Sovereign Bancorp Inc. signed a branding deal with Houston-based Cardtronics Inc. for nearly 900 ATMs in CVS/pharmacy locations across the northeastern United States. According to a news release, states included in the placement are Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Installations are expected to be completed over the next few months.

As part of the deal, Sovereign also will have the opportunity to brand ATMs at any new CVS/pharmacy locations within the same footprint. All Sovereign ATMs in CVS/pharmacy stores will be surcharge-free to Sovereign customers.
