South African CIT security guards demand more protection

Mail & Guardian: Motor Transport Workers Union members in Johannesburg, South Africa, threatened to strike after a rash of violent heists. The threat followed a shoot-out between robbers and security guards that left a 1-year-old dead. If the strike occurs, ATMs will be left without money and shops will have no way to transport funds. Union members are asking the government to intervene to provide more protection to cash-in-transit security guards.
