ePaymentnews:A new report reveals that the number of credit cards in Central and Eastern Europe more than tripled from 2004 to 2006, when the number of credit cardholders in the region hit 27 million. The total number of payment cards, including debit, charge and credit cards, has grown by 64 percent, with debit representing 83 percent of those card types. In Western Europe, only 52 percent of the card base comprises debit cards. But credit is quickly catching up. Credit cards now account for 15 percent of region's total cards.
